so i was just in the kitchen, making a turkey melt sandwich, and iron chef was on tv.
alton brown was introducing the judges and i heard him say something about SNL so i looked in to see who he was talking about, and it was tina fey!
maybe it's an indication of the type of day i've had that this was its highlight, but then again, maybe it's the best thing to happen in the history of the food network.

i'm really happy right now.
today was kind of lame, but now i'm home. i ate some soup, and i am listening to music.
it gets better, too!
the hat i am knitting for my mom is turning out alright so far.(she's gonna look like jughead)

i found a space heater on the back porch and now it's my best friend.

oh and i figured out a way to keep my books so they're not in my bed and all over the floor all the time. i really like it.ugh, i don't want to go to work tomorrow.

Hey, Hannah's sister!

today i finally unpacked the last box from my move in september, and i set up my bedroom like i actually intend to live here. did i mention i moved in september?
anyway... i also finally put batteries in my camera and got my pictures from it. here they are! these are my little plants on the first sunny day after the fire (clouds and haze for almost three weeks straight). they were so happy, i had to take a photo of them.
It's cloudy and rainy today, but in a good way.this one i call "Plant Portrait II: Plants with Pretty Sky and Reflection of Clock"
ok, i just made that up.

somehow, a month passed

it's so cold lately.
i got home tonight and washed my scarves, my hair, and the bathtub. and it's still early. so now i'm sitting around in as many clothes as possible, thinking about all the little projects i have to finish, and how much i'm never going to finish any of them.
and what is the deal with words?
i've been trying to write things down more often because i have this theory that the more i write, the more likely i'll be to write something good. so far, it hasn't really been working. the only thing i like out of about a week's worth of words is 4 sentences about trees.
i'd stick to pictures, but i always forget my camera. maybe i'll just start dancing about things.
things i looked up today:
"jose arcadio buendia"
"star wars trumpet solo" (again)
"hudsucker proxy"

bum bum bum

i had the most ridiculously bad day today.
so after work i went home and took a nap and talked to shelley, which evened the whole day out so it was an average day.
on friday i drove to los angeles and hung out with tynan and watched the scariest movie ever. it was called echo room. at least that's what tynan called it.
for halloween, i went to a dance party with alison and katie. and we danced.
the whole city wasn't on fire after all, but it was definitely hot enough to be.
here's a photo by alison:
that's it, for today. and probably the week.

Oh No!

I guess things are settled now.
it took long enough!
This post serves no purpose whatsoever except to say that my house isn't burned down (so far)
I think I'm going to be a silent film starlet for Halloween (if the whole city isn't on fire by then [actually, probably even if it is])
and that i promise i will write again soon, Natasha. And i will also take a class on how to properly use parentheses and brackets.
love, zabie.

things are finally starting to seem somewhat normal. so as soon as i get my computer back, i'll start actually writing in here. i've missed a lot of really great photo opportunities in the past week, so i'll have to make up for it, i guess, in the future.

i'm just curious!

we're drunk and sitting on the balcony at erin's hotel room. nathan is singing to against me! and we are having fun with gabe eli chad and erin. this weekend we went to comic con and it was so weird, and i almost met nick frost but then he just made a face at me. i guess that's ok, though. I got a badge that says "amazing policeman officer" and i took this picture of a star wars guy oh and here is nathan and simon pegg:
yeah that was fun. and this is fun. today nathan and chad and i hung out and watched blade and acted manly, but then on commercials we switched to the devil wears prada and acted girly. it was great!
we're going to the desert tomorrow night and having a party at tynan's house and then we're going to watch the simpsons movie. life is pretty good when you know good people like these.
p.s. don't tell nathan and eli, but i don't really like against me!

Home Again

Portland is so great! Roxanne and I spent every day just walking around and checking things out, and eating the best cupcakes ever:
oh man, those were really good.

We left Portland and went to see Roxanne's granny. She collects and sells things she gets from thrift stores and garage sales, and she let us go through her jewlery collection and take whatever we wanted. Best granny ever.
Roxanne's aunt lived nearby, so we went to her house and jumped on a trampoline for about six hours.
Her uncle has this incredible garden and I kind of wanted to ask if I could move in and be their maid in exchange for free veggies. But then I realized that I would be a terrible maid, so I just asked for the free veggies.

We left Monday afternoon and got home on Tuesday. I never want to get back into a car for the rest of my life.

Portland

Roxanne and I drove up to Portland this week to visit Natasha. I tried taking pictures of the changing scenery on the way up here, but it turns out there is no changing scenery. When Southern California ends, there's just this vast emptiness along the 5, all the way up to Portland. Who knew?We got to Tasha's house on Monday, and it's been a perpetual slumber party ever since.
We spent the fourth of July watching degrassi, then took Zena out for a walk, hoping we'd see some fireworks. We didn't.
Roxanne and I eat breakfast every morning at the same bagel place, hoping they'll start to recognize us, and then be confused next week when we disappear. The only problem is that we have yet to see the same person working there twice.
It's pizza time. I'll show you more pictures when I get home.
